I just couldn't let this blog go to waste even after I've quit Shaw. There was some serious funny/bad/sad memories being evoked as I skimmed through it again, and so I've decided, being the blog whore I am, to just continue this blog as my personal public blog.
Besides, now that I've quit, I don't care if the information is out there or not :D
So, my new job... well let's see. Here's my first week so far:
Monday
I come formally dressed 10 minutes before my manager tells me to come. He then rolls in with a backward baseball cap and is like 'sup?' Naturally I get a good chuckle out of it. My manager then proceeds to tell me that he's off to a meeting in 5 minutes and leaves me to my own accord. Of course, that was also the one day that the 2nd guy that was supposed to train me was taking a day off as well. Luckily! I had job shadowed my friend on the previous Friday so I was not completely clueless and useless. Plus, computers are my friend. <3 Met some great people, and had an hour of lunch. (I get paid by salary, not hourly)
Tuesday
Manager sets me up with a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetass server. Wow, I've never worked with such a powerful machine before. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. A 6 CPU machine with 12 gigs of RAM. Ooooh there goes those goosebumps again.
So my manager's teaching me some stuff, and for some reason, one of the homepages for internet explorer was some weird link, like coolhotmail.cz (was working with a copy of czech windows) or something like that, and featured on the front page was this woman. My manager's like: "Whoa, what a weird homepage. Hey sweet, check it out *points to screen* That girl's boob has this solar flare effect hahaha." God, he's so awesome lol.
For those who are wondering what a solar flare effect is.. picture the centre bulb lighty thingy in this picture:

and then paste it onto a woman's boob. And no, I'm not going to explain what a boob is.
Anyways, for lunch (an hour of course), my team goes out to a local burger joint that served a delicious philly cheese steak sandwich, and we chilled around for awhile having a good time.
Wednesday
Still working on the same old technical stuff that would bore you guys to tears if I tried explaining it. Ah, I had an encounter with 'internal' tech support, who actually seem to be outsourced to india or something. Anyways, I was having trouble with my email because my name wasn't showing on the global company list, so I was suggested to give them a ring. The conversation reminded me that no one in tech support really knows what they're talking about or what they're doing, because they wasted about an hour of my time to remote desktop into my machine to try the things that I've already done to troubleshoot the issue. Finally, a fellow co-worker who had worked as help desk before figured out the problem within 5 minutes after I was complaining to him about how long the call was taking. lol how retarded.
Ah, then lunch again! It turns out that the company was treating its employees for some free bbq hamburgers in the rain. How lovely, they even gave us a ticket to claim our yummalicious burger. Unfortunately, it seems that the company, or rather the caterer that they hired for some god awful reason did not anticipate the 1200 employees in our company, because there was only one cook on one grill cookin' those burgers. Now picture those winding lineups at playland, and that's what I essentially went through to get my burger. Also picture the wait time, oh hi, 1 1/2 hours roll by, no problem. Hahaha, the best part was, my team decided to cancel one of their meetings with some executives from some other company because hamburgers were more important. Their text msg to the executives was something as follows: "Unfortunately, because of this unforeseen emergency meeting that came up, we will be unable to meet with you today". Everyone got a good laugh out of that.
Thursday
More of the same. Except that this time I brought some e-books (yay Dean Koontz) with me so that I could pass the time while I'm waiting for things to load. That and I played some ping pong with one of my co-workers for an hour after my hour lunch. Man, this is a tough job. I don't know how I'm surviving.
Seriously.
