I just couldn't let this blog go to waste even after I've quit Shaw. There was some serious funny/bad/sad memories being evoked as I skimmed through it again, and so I've decided, being the blog whore I am, to just continue this blog as my personal public blog.
Besides, now that I've quit, I don't care if the information is out there or not :D
So, my new job... well let's see. Here's my first week so far:
Monday
I come formally dressed 10 minutes before my manager tells me to come. He then rolls in with a backward baseball cap and is like 'sup?' Naturally I get a good chuckle out of it. My manager then proceeds to tell me that he's off to a meeting in 5 minutes and leaves me to my own accord. Of course, that was also the one day that the 2nd guy that was supposed to train me was taking a day off as well. Luckily! I had job shadowed my friend on the previous Friday so I was not completely clueless and useless. Plus, computers are my friend. <3 Met some great people, and had an hour of lunch. (I get paid by salary, not hourly)
Tuesday
Manager sets me up with a sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetass server. Wow, I've never worked with such a powerful machine before. It still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. A 6 CPU machine with 12 gigs of RAM. Ooooh there goes those goosebumps again.
So my manager's teaching me some stuff, and for some reason, one of the homepages for internet explorer was some weird link, like coolhotmail.cz (was working with a copy of czech windows) or something like that, and featured on the front page was this woman. My manager's like: "Whoa, what a weird homepage. Hey sweet, check it out *points to screen* That girl's boob has this solar flare effect hahaha." God, he's so awesome lol.
For those who are wondering what a solar flare effect is.. picture the centre bulb lighty thingy in this picture:
http://www.durwoodzone.com/pages/3dpics/jpg/SolarFlare.JPG
and then paste it onto a woman's boob. And no, I'm not going to explain what a boob is.
Anyways, for lunch (an hour of course), my team goes out to a local burger joint that served a delicious philly cheese steak sandwich, and we chilled around for awhile having a good time.
Wednesday
Still working on the same old technical stuff that would bore you guys to tears if I tried explaining it. Ah, I had an encounter with 'internal' tech support, who actually seem to be outsourced to india or something. Anyways, I was having trouble with my email because my name wasn't showing on the global company list, so I was suggested to give them a ring. The conversation reminded me that no one in tech support really knows what they're talking about or what they're doing, because they wasted about an hour of my time to remote desktop into my machine to try the things that I've already done to troubleshoot the issue. Finally, a fellow co-worker who had worked as help desk before figured out the problem within 5 minutes after I was complaining to him about how long the call was taking. lol how retarded.
Ah, then lunch again! It turns out that the company was treating its employees for some free bbq hamburgers in the rain. How lovely, they even gave us a ticket to claim our yummalicious burger. Unfortunately, it seems that the company, or rather the caterer that they hired for some god awful reason did not anticipate the 1200 employees in our company, because there was only one cook on one grill cookin' those burgers. Now picture those winding lineups at playland, and that's what I essentially went through to get my burger. Also picture the wait time, oh hi, 1 1/2 hours roll by, no problem. Hahaha, the best part was, my team decided to cancel one of their meetings with some executives from some other company because hamburgers were more important. Their text msg to the executives was something as follows: "Unfortunately, because of this unforeseen emergency meeting that came up, we will be unable to meet with you today". Everyone got a good laugh out of that.
Thursday
More of the same. Except that this time I brought some e-books (yay Dean Koontz) with me so that I could pass the time while I'm waiting for things to load. That and I played some ping pong with one of my co-workers for an hour after my hour lunch. Man, this is a tough job. I don't know how I'm surviving.
Seriously.

Jusssssst when I thought I finally free from this job in January, my sup tells me it's fine for me to work 1 day a week.
Funny story behind that because I set up a meeting with the manager of the department to see what my options were if I were to quit for a few months (not that I was planning on returning perse), and he forwards my meeting request to my supervisor who then takes me aside to "ask how I was doing." ie. The manager told me to talk to you, so here I am! Zzzzz... oh well it's fate that I'm stuck here for awhile longer....

SDP up to its usual.
It's been another fun-filled SDP week, and by fun I mean our engineers decided to go on vacation right when everything decides to break down. If we were part of a fairy tale, SDP would be the straw house, and the big bad wolf has blown it down and gobbled the little pig up.
New installations not having dial tone for several days, SDP service calls backdated to hell, phone features breaking down, the list goes on but there's one thing in common - pissed customers.
Anyways, our engineering department to the rescue!
Shortly after all these issues cropped up, they were worked to hell... I mean like look at what they completed and fixed!
Interface before for a form we use:

Interface after:

WOW, we really needed that badly. Where the hell would we TSRs be without the ability to change the color scheme of the 20 minute form we fill out every other call. I mean like, providing service to our customers and fixing no dial tone issues so our front-line staff don't go postal on the company? That's not important!
Oh, and to add insult to injury...
Outage page.

Really? No shit sherlock?
Good game.

Fuck my retarded ass schedule in the past few weeks. Thank god it's almost over. The whole morning-night back and forth action was really putting a damper on my sleeping schedule.
And now, it's back to school *sigh* Expect emo posts soon.

Thank you phone gods!
.. For giving me two dead air calls (meaning calls where there's no one on the other side) in a row. *does the lucky phone dance*

eqjncioioqueirjkaslnvjdkfjeiwoajkfsal;
Have to keep writing to keep sane. I haven't been this exhausted for as long as I can remember. This feels like I've been pulling an all nighter for a few nights in a row, which essentially is true.
Friday - Woke up at 1pm with 6 hrs of sleep (on the edge of a sleeping 'norm'), jumped to work, came home, and slept idiotically at 8 am. And by slept I mean lying awake in bed up until 9 am, waking up 10 am, sleeping for one hour, and then at 11am woke up
Saturday 11am - Have to jump to work for a full 8.5 hr shift. I'm tired as fuck. See previous post. 2 extra large coffees have riled me up when I go home at 9 pm, and I'm unable to sleep until 11:30 pm, where I then wake up at 12:30 am, and surprise surprise, start playing DOTA.... up until 5 am. Noooooooooo I'm not retarded. at. all. No rolling eyes please.
Sunday 7 am - HERE I AM AGAIN. SO, 3 hrs of sleep in the last 50 hours, with 19 of them being work hours! Oh wait I think my math is off, cause it seems like I've pretty much been working non stop. I could be biased though. Awesome. I love life right now.
Extra large coffee + elderly old man who doesn't know where the power button is on the remote control + me with 1 hr of sleep = half an hour call where I am ready to kill myself from frustration trying to explain what I would *THINK* people should know but obviously don't, which is why I have my job in the first place.
And elderly customers just seem to call in the morning I guess. Wow, that's the second guy who wants to give me his entire autobiography along with his opinions on the current state of the world. Yeah, ok teenagers are rudeasses that listen to Eminem and other 'garbage'. Ya, we advertise alot and have stupid commercials. I know you're lonely cause you're in Vancouver by yourself. I really... don't... care... all that much.. at all.
Please, do you have a cable problem I can fix or not? If not, lets just part ways and never talk again, thanks. Isn't there enough emo to go around for each individual to think about already, without having to share it with perfect strangers?
Insensitive? Probably more than I usually am. Natural when one is exhausted beyond belief. I haven't had a weird rant like this for a long time. Or if I do, I usually keep it on livejournal. Nonsensical mess for the win!
I don't know what I find more irritating at the moment, loud static when a customer brings their cordless phone close to their TV to troubleshoot, or my own echo after every word I say which is super distracting cause I can't catch my thoughts on what to say next. I guess I'll have to say the echoing, since that's the most recent memory in my mind. I wonder how long this post will run to by the time I get bored or get off my shift. I must sound pretty damn insane right now.
And so, I will try to organize my mind by finishing off the album review instead on the other blog. Cause I'll wake up after a nap tonight and be very scared at how crazy I am right now.
Haha.
PS. I'm back. I UNDERSTAND YOUR FUCKING FRUSTRATION MA'AM BUT NO WE CANT SEND ANYONE OUT UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST. YES THAT'S MY FINAL ANSWER. NO YOU CAN'T SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR RIGHT NOW, THEY'RE ALL ON LUNCH. WE COULD DROP YOU INTO THE EMAIL BIN THOUGH! WHAT'S THAT? YOU'RE PAYING US 500+ DOLLARS A MONTH ON YOUR BILL? WELL THAT DOESN'T MATTER, I'LL FILL IN THE CANCELLATION ORDER FOR YOU NOW MA'AM. ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN HELP YOU WITH? :)

asdfjkl;
Runnin' on two whole hours of disturbed sleep for a 8.5 hr shift. All I can say is... FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111
Oh and did I mention that when I get home, I essentially have to go to sleep RIGHT away to get at most 6 hours of sleep for tomorrow's 7 am shift start time?
Horrid day at work too on top of the nice nauseus throwing up feeling haw.
Biggest pooched up account I've ever seen with phone:
BUSINESS customer who owns a restaurant in the west side of vancity was convinced to switch over to our phone service got screwed over. For some reason or other, we couldn't install the service for him, and after our tech left, his point of sale transaction (credit card machine), fax line, and DSL no longer worked. When he called his original phone company up, they said that we had already transferred his numbers over and that they no longer was his service provider.
We didn't have any record of that, and to top it all off, we can't even look into the details of what happened since the business department was closed until Monday. Fan-tastic. No POS /fax/ DSL for the entire weekend.
Yeah... and in general, just bitchy customers/co-workers left and right. Wow, emo more. A customer flipped out on me cause I asked her very casually if she had tried bypassing our digital box and going directly to the TV. Screaming her head off, and when I told her to calm down, she flipped out some more haha.
Screwups from CSRs left and right today that I've had to fix, attitude issues I've had to deal with.. list goes on.
I'm amazed I'm still alive and kicking. Haha. Gotta take it stride by stride I guess. It's all good, I'm in an amused mood as of late. Perhaps it's the extreme fatigue state where everything seems funny no matter how horrible things are.
